What to Do

Experiences Worth Seeking

Main Beach & Heisler Park

The heart of Laguna Beach — a broad sandy cove framed by the town's historic buildings, with Heisler Park's blufftop promenade stretching north above the sea. The views from the park at golden hour are among the finest on the California coast.

The Galleries of Forest Avenue

Laguna Beach has been an artists' colony since the early 20th century, and the concentration of galleries along Forest Avenue and its side streets remains extraordinary. The Laguna Art Museum, founded in 1918, is the oldest art museum in Southern California.

Thousand Steps Beach

One of Laguna's most beloved hidden beaches — reached by a long staircase down the cliffs, and rewarded with a wide, sheltered cove that feels entirely removed from the town above. Arrive early.

Crystal Cove State Park

Just north of Laguna, Crystal Cove preserves three miles of undeveloped coastline and a historic district of vintage beach cottages. The tide pools are exceptional, and the hiking trails above the bluffs offer panoramic views of the Pacific.

Pageant of the Masters

Laguna's most celebrated annual event — a summer festival in which local volunteers recreate famous works of art as living tableaux, with extraordinary precision. Running since 1933, it is one of the most singular cultural experiences in California.
