"The Rosewood Hong Kong announced itself as Asia's finest new hotel the moment it opened."
When the Rosewood Hong Kong opened in 2019 on the Victoria Dockside in Kowloon, it immediately set a new standard for the urban luxury hotel in Asia. The building — a 65-storey tower designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, with a faceted glass facade that catches the harbour light at every hour — is one of the most striking pieces of contemporary architecture in Hong Kong. The interiors, designed by Tony Chi, draw on the city's layered cultural history: Chinese lacquerwork, British colonial references, and a contemporary sensibility that is entirely its own.
The hotel's fundamental advantage is its position. Sitting directly on the Kowloon waterfront, with an unobstructed view across Victoria Harbour to the Hong Kong Island skyline, the Rosewood offers what is arguably the finest hotel view in Asia. Every room faces either the harbour or the Kowloon cityscape; the harbour-facing suites, with their floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces, are among the most dramatic hotel rooms in the world. The Symphony of Lights show — which illuminates the skyline every evening at 8pm — is best experienced from your room.
"The Victoria Harbour view from the Asaya rooftop pool at golden hour."

A note on the rating: the Rosewood Hong Kong receives four stars rather than five not because of any deficiency in the hotel itself — which is exceptional in almost every respect — but because the dining programme, while very good, has not yet reached the level of the city's best standalone restaurants. The service, too, occasionally shows the slight inconsistency of a hotel that is still, in hotel terms, relatively young. These are minor qualifications on what is otherwise one of the great urban hotel experiences in the world.

What Not to Miss
The Victoria Harbour View
The Rosewood Hong Kong was designed around a single idea: the view. Every room faces either Victoria Harbour or the Kowloon cityscape, and the harbour-facing suites — with floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces — offer what is arguably the finest hotel view in Asia. The Symphony of Lights show, which illuminates the Hong Kong skyline every evening at 8pm, is best watched from your room with a glass of champagne.
The Asaya Rooftop Pool
The rooftop pool at the Asaya spa — 43 floors above the harbour — is one of the most dramatic hotel amenities in the world. The infinity edge appears to merge with the harbour below; the view of the Hong Kong skyline from the water is extraordinary. The pool is heated year-round and open to hotel guests; the adjacent spa terrace is the finest place for a post-treatment rest in Hong Kong.
Dining at Holt's Café
The Rosewood's all-day dining restaurant is one of the finest in Hong Kong — a beautifully designed space with a menu that moves between European and Asian influences with genuine skill. The dim sum brunch on weekends is exceptional; the afternoon tea, served in the lobby lounge with views of the harbour, is the finest in Kowloon.
The Manor
The Rosewood's flagship restaurant — a private members' club aesthetic, a menu of exceptional European cuisine, and a wine list that is among the finest in Hong Kong. The private dining rooms, available for groups of four to twelve, are the most sought-after tables in Kowloon. Book well in advance.
The Experience
The Verdict
The finest hotel in Hong Kong — and one of the great urban hotel experiences in Asia.
The harbour-facing suites, the Asaya rooftop pool, and the Victoria Dockside location make this the only address in Hong Kong for the discerning traveller.
